Both individuals involved in a domestic dispute reported in the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 14, were arrested on separate charges following an investigation conducted by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Dana Campbell, 45, of Bellefontaine was charged with domestic violence after she reportedly assaulted her estranged partner during a dispute at their residence.

Joshua Campbell, 45, of Bellefontaine, was charged with obstructing official business after he reportedly refused to cooperate with the police investigation into the altercation.

Officers were initially dispatched around 1:39 a.m. to Mary Rutan Hospital on a report of a domestic violence. Dana had arrived at the hospital visibly upset and told nurses there that she’d been attacked. Upon their arrival, officers spoke with Dana and observed no signs of physical injury. Dana complained she’d been struck repeatedly and that her face hurt.

Police responded to the residence along east Columbus Avenue and spoke with Joshua and a teenage witness. It was soon determined that Dana had been the primary aggressor.

Joshua initially cooperated with police, describing how Dana attacked him and showing police scratches to his chest, arms and neck. He also said he had video of the incident.

When he was told Dana would be charged with domestic violence, Joshua stopped complying with police. He refused to show officers video of the incident and would not allow them to photograph his injuries. Joshua said he didn’t want to be any part of getting Dana in trouble, officers reported.

Both individuals were arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
