A Riverside Alumni Baseball Game took place Saturday Aug. 3, at the Quincy ballpark in memory of Riverside teacher Greg Jenkins, who passed away in September 2023.

A total of 19 of 24 players were Riverside alumni members, who graduated between 1994 and 2024.

Brad and Jay Jenkins were the among the older alumni members, while some of the younger alumni participating were Dom Stotler, Reece Jenkins and Gavin Robinson.

While Jenkins coached football and basketball at Riverside, his favorite movie was Field of Dreams and his students watched it in class every spring.

“He loved baseball and he would always come watch us play when we had home games,” organizer Josh Foreman recalled.

Two sets of father sons participated in the nine-inning game, Ryan Robinson and his son Gavin, and Brad Jenkins and his son Reece. Two sets of brothers Darek and Dana Zook and Jay and Brad Jenkins also participated.

Class of 2006 members Josh Foreman, Bryan Carter, Corey Keith and Darek Zook wore their original Riverside baseball jerseys.

“Something was just pulling on my heart to do it and I’m glad I followed through with it
because now everyone is already talking about next year,” Foreman said.
