Karen Frymyer, born June 19, 1941, at home on Snider Road in Jackson Center, Ohio, was lovingly delivered by her father, Franklin W. Judy. She was a cherished daughter of Franklin W. Judy and Phyllis L. Judy (Zwiebel), both of whom preceded her in death.

On April 11, 1959, Karen married the love of her life, Merle L. Frymyer, in Adams County, Decatur, Indiana. They shared a beautiful life together filled with love, family, and adventure.

A proud graduate of Jackson Center High School and Findlay College, Karen earned her B.A. in Business Administration. After returning home from Norfolk, Virginia, in 1963, she began her career at Interstate Securities Company. Karen quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the only woman Office Manager east of the Mississippi, a testament to her dedication and pioneering spirit.

In 1977, Karen found her true calling in real estate, obtaining her license and dedicating over 40 years to the industry. Her passion and expertise led to her being named the Lima Board of Realtors’ “Realtor of the Year” in 1982. In 1992, she achieved another milestone by passing her Broker’s Exam. Karen also shared her knowledge as an adjunct teacher at Lima Technical College and the University of Northwestern Ohio. In 1999, alongside her family, she founded Choice Properties Real Estate, Inc., a lasting legacy of her commitment to helping others with their real estate needs.

Throughout her life, Karen was deeply involved in her community. She was a past president of the American Business Women Association in Lima, receiving the “Woman of the Year” award three times. Karen was also an active member of the Northwestern Ohio Pond Society, Wally Byam Airstream Caravan Club, Auglaize County Chapter, Indian Lake Community Church, and the Indian Lake Women’s Club. She served as the past president of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and was honored with a Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019, as well as the Mary L. Pollock Lifetime Achievement Award from the Midwestern Ohio Association of Realtors in 2018.

Karen and Merle spent 20 wonderful winters in Winter Haven, Florida, enjoying their time traveling across the U.S. in their Airstream, golfing, reading, gardening, quilting, and co-teaching Women’s Bible Studies.

Karen is survived by her loving son, Jonathan Dale Frymyer, and his wife, Diane P. “Teri” Frymyer, of Indian Lake. She was a devoted grandmother to Lindsey Alane (Trevor) McGlone of West Liberty and Ashley Laraine (Jacob) Boyd of Bellefontaine. Her great-grandchildren, Alayna Claire Boyd, Knox Derrick Boyd, Beckett Hayes McGlone, Dax Jonathan Boyd, and Mayzie Rae McGlone, were her pride and joy.
