McDaniel, Lady Pirates off to good start

Riverside’s girls golf team had a busy first week on the course.

On Monday, Aug. 5, the Pirates played in Lady Bucc Invitational at Echo Hills in Piqua.

Riverside was 10th out of 16 teams. Reaghan McDaniel shot an 80 and finished third out of 82 golfers to lead the Pirates.

Zoie Armbruster posted a 110, Kenna Johnson had 119 and Kirstyn Carpenter shot 128.

Riverside then hosted its own Lady Pirate Invitational on Tuesday. The Pirates were seventh out of 12 teams. Findlay won the team title and Zoey Merritt of Graham was medalist with a 74.

McDaniel was second with a 78. Armbruster shot 112, Johnson had 115 and Adalyn Calaway had 138.

Riverside then started Three Rivers Conference play Friday with a 214-231 win over Lehman Catholic at Cherokee Hills.

McDaniel led the Pirates with a 41. She was followed by Armbruster with a 51, Johnson with a 53, Lei Hurley with a 69, Carpenter with a 70 and Calaway with a 74.

Riverside boys fall to Covington

Riverside’s boys golf team lost to Covington 171-217 in a Three Rivers Conference match at Cherokee Hills on Friday.

Jaxon Woods was the co-medalist along with Covington’s Matt Dieperink with a 41.

Also for the Pirates, Hayden McCully shot 50, Daniel Esh had 56 and Syler Clark posted a 70.
