Phyllis Ann Pence, age 82, of Urbana, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 31, 1941, in Paintsville, Kentucky, Phyllis was the daughter of Glen and Jennie Cooper. She graduated from Triad High School in 1960. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, DeLoris Callicoat and Claudia Callicoat; and her stepson, Mike Pence.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Dwight Pence; her brother, Philip Cooper; her sister, Bonnie Davisson; her children, Kirk (Beth) Inskeep and Lisa (Tracy) Helms; and her stepson, Todd Pence. Phyllis is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Brian (Kristin) Bailey, Lanette (Patrick) Johnson, Matt Bailey, and Jason (Leah) Bailey; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Hannah Bailey, Aubrey Johnson, Gavin Bailey, Tenley Johnson, Tucker Bailey, Weston Bailey, and Greyson Bailey.

Phyllis was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great joy in watching her family participate in sports and other activities. Known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills, she also enjoyed canning, cleaning, mowing the lawn, bowling, shuffleboard, bocce ball, camping, ceramics, and engaging in heartfelt conversations with her family over the phone.

Throughout her career, Phyllis worked at several manufacturing facilities, with a significant tenure at Grimes Manufacturing in Urbana, Ohio, from which she retired. Following her retirement from Grimes, she found fulfillment working at Kentucky Fried Chicken. Phyllis had a deep faith and was a long-time member of the Urbana Nazarene Church.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Kristin Bailey for her care and support, and to Ohio’s Hospice, particularly nurse Hailey Marquis, for their compassionate care during Phyllis’ final days.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 12, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home, 5591 U.S. Highway 68 S. West Liberty, Ohio 43357. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service.
