Edna Imogene ‘Jean’ Maxwell

Edna Imogene “Jean” Maxwell, 96, of West Liberty, passed away Monday morning, August 5, 2024, at Logan Acres Care Center.

Jean was born on November 29, 1927, in Huntsville, Ohio, to the late Homer C. Johnson and Katherine (Davis) Johnson.  She married Max. L. Maxwell on August 7, 1946, in Kentucky and he preceded her in death.  Jean was also preceded in death by a daughter Judy Ann Ferryman, a son-in-law Francis Salyers, and 5 sisters: Marilyn Martz, Patty Shirk, Dorothy Martz, Jackie Stokes-Cole, and Cheryl Beech.

Jean is survived by daughters: Nancy (James) McCullough of West Liberty, and Gloria Salyers of West Liberty; 6 grandchildren:  Mike, Jill, Jeff, Kyle, Kristie, and Amber; 13 great-grandchildren:  Jared, Trevor, Justin, Jacob, T.R., Jacob, Kursten, Paige, Jonni, Bryce, Blake, Olivia & Davis; 7 great-great-grandchildren: Peyton, Layne, Tyson, T.J., Troy, Rosie, and Jaxson; a brother-in-law Bob Beech of Belle Center; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Huntsville High School, Jean was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.  She had worked in Food Service for the West Liberty – Salem school system for many years.

The family would like to thank the staff at Logan Acres for the great care they provided for Mom. 

Pastor Daniel McCarty  will officiate Jean’s graveside service on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11am at Huntsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chasing Greatness, 2071 North Bechtle Ave. Suite #216, Springfield, OH 45504 (www.chasinggreatness9.com).  This is a charity that Jean’s great-granddaughter Jonni Parker set up to provide hearing aids to children under the age of 18.
