Tyler Tepfenhart, 26, of Springfield, was arrested Friday, July 5, shortly before 2 p.m. following an incident inside his hospital room at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to the hospital on a report of a fight in progress. Upon their arrival, officers learned the defendant had been combative with a security guard at the hospital after having been admitted to the hospital for reportedly making comments of self-harm.
Tepfenhart’s arms and legs had to be restrained to his hospital bed due to his level of combativeness with staff. He later told officers he felt trapped and wanted to leave and that is why he reportedly kicked a security guard.
He was charged with persistent disorderly conduct and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
