Alan W. Davis, age 64 of Russells Point, passed at 3:05 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Ohio State University Hospital East.
He was born April 21, 1960 in Lima, Ohio to the late Donald Earl and Mary J. Burden Davis. On June 25, 2011, he married Billie J. Dennison, who survives.
Alan proudly served his country as a helicopter mechanic in the US Army. After his military service, he dedicated his career to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator.
He was an avid outdoorsman and found great joy in hunting, particularly deer. His love for hunting was matched only by his enthusiasm for collecting guns and arrowheads. Alan loved riding motorcycles.
Alan was known for his stubborn and bullheaded nature and approached life with a strong will. Alan was a storyteller at heart, captivating family and friends with tales from his many experiences. His great sense of humor and love for sharing stories brought joy and laughter to those around him.
Alan had a deep love for history, possessing a remarkable ability to know a little information about a lot of subjects. His passion for learning was evident in his love for watching war shows, John Wayne movies, the TV program “Expedition Unknown, and various history programs. His knowledge and enthusiasm for these topics made him a fascinating conversationalist.
Also surviving is a daughter – Amanda (Ed) Strayer of Bellefontaine; a step daughter – Shellby (Brayden) Saunders of WV; 2 sisters – Nancy C. (Steve) Fisher of Ada; Diane K. Davis of Cridersville; a father-in-law – Wesley ‘Mac’ (Bonita) Dennison of IN; and a brother-in-law – Shawn Dennison of Lakeview; and best friends – Dave Clay and Gene Elliott.
He was preceded in death by a brother – Earl E. Davis.
A celebration of Alan’s life will be held at a later date.
