MARYSVILLE – A Bellefontaine man could be facing more than three decades in prison after allegedly putting a gun to his ex-wife’s head.
The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Joshua Glen Perdue, 43, charging him with two counts of felonious assault and one count each of kidnapping, domestic violence, aggravated menacing, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle under the influence.
Several of the charges have a specification that they were allegedly committed using a firearm, which enhances the charge and carries additional and mandatory prison time.
According to court documents, at about 5:57 p.m., June 2, the Union County 911 Dispatch Center received a call from a 12-year-old girl. She told dispatchers that Perdue had come to their home at 15060 Payne Road, Marysville. Perdue and the girl’s mother had been married but recently divorced.
The girl’s mother got on the phone and told police about a domestic incident between her and Perdue. She said Perdue was drunk and left the scene in his truck. She warned police he had a gun.
When police arrived at the home, the mother told investigators about the alleged incident. She said Perdue pushed her to the ground then put a gun to her head. Perdue allegedly told the woman to “stop moving.” According to court documents, the woman told police she “believed Joshua was going to kill her.”
A deputy saw the truck at the intersection of Collins Road and Route 4. The deputy pulled the truck over and spoke with Perdue. He told the deputies he had two handguns in the truck.
According to court documents, the deputy saw “signs of impairment” from Perdue who was detained.
When investigators arrived on scene they found “numerous amounts of open alcoholic beer cans on the rear floor and under the driver’s seat.
Investigators also found a loaded .380-caliber handgun and an unloaded .40-caliber handgun in the truck.
The victim indicated that the loaded gun was the one he put to her head.
Perdue refused to submit to a breath or blood test to determine if he was intoxicated.
If convicted on all counts, Perdue could face more than 34 years in prison.
