The Benjamin Logan Local School District Board of Education held a special meeting on Friday, May 24, just before the 2024 commencement ceremony. Their main goal was to approve a consulting and treasurer contract for new hire Leah Baker.
Baker replaces Jennifer Sudhoff, who recently resigned.
“We’re sad to see Jennifer leaving because she’s put things in place that gave the district better financial footing,” John Scheu, district superintendent said.
As for Baker, he stated, “It was evident to me in the interview process that she has a lot to offer.”
Baker’s extensive experience includes nine years in the finance department at Worthington City Schools. She lives in Prospect, Ohio, and will begin her role as treasurer on July 8, 2024. Her term will go until July 31, 2026.
During the brief Friday meeting, the board also accepted the resignation of Christa Knight, high school family consumer science teacher, effective July 31, for personal reasons.
Their final action of the night was to approve the revised lunch prices for 2024-25. The list they passed at the May 20 meeting mistakenly had the prices from 2022-23 instead of maintaining those from last year.
Revised lunch prices are: K-4: $2.95; 5-12: $3.20; reduced lunch: free (only for FY25 at this time); milk: 50 cents; adult lunch: $3.50
The next regular meeting is 6 p.m. Monday, June 24.
