Robert Lawrence Dague, Sr., 96, of rural Bellefontaine, OH passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday morning, May 23, 2024.

Robert was born on December 13, 1927, in Stokes Twp, Logan Co, OH, a son of the late George A. and Mina Elizabeth Dillon Dague. He is preceded in death by a son, Mark R. Dague, a granddaughter, Abagail I. Dague, a daughter-in-law, Donna Dague, and two siblings, Ernest Dague and Dorothy Dague Knack.

Robert married Opal Harpest on June 6, 1955, and she survives along with a son, Robert L. Dague, Jr. of DeGraff, OH, six grandchildren, Adam T (Sandy Sapp) Bryan, Audra M. Bryan, Amber R. Bryan, Robert Jeremy (Sarah Ann) Dague, Sarah E. (Rodney) Craig, and Derek L. Dague, 18 great grandchildren, Summer, Paige, Dylan, Gauge, Isaac, Jordan, Michaela, Felix, Cyrus, Noah, Miah, Nakiah, Nicolette, Isabel, Shannyn, Hunter, Kyler, and Hannah, and a great-great grandson, Israel.

Robert was a 1945 graduate of Stokes Local School. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army. Robert was a lifelong farmer and worked at Airstream for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, arrowhead hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview with visitation from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in Plum Cemetery, Lewistown, OH with military rites performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
