Wilma J. Skelly, 91, of Bellefontaine, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
She was born in Lima, Ohio on August 14, 1932, the daughter of the late Dwight and Marie (Wilkins) Mauk.
On September 19, 1953, she married Donald Eugene Skelly and he preceded her in death on January 28, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Chloe Hodge, a sister, Carol Rolsten, and four brothers, Dave, Paul, Steve, and Tom Mauk.
She is survived by a daughter, Melanie (William) Gilroy, two sons, Todd (Cheryl) Skelly and Rod Skelly, all of Bellefontaine, five grandchildren, Charles (Stephanie) Bland, Breanna (Brady) Baier, Brooke (Zane) Marshall, Adam Skelly, Allie (Mark Watkins) Skelly, eight great grandchildren, Gavin, Diesel, Dane, Austin, Remi, Bennett, Carter, and Levi, a sister, Nancy (Dan) Bradford of Lima, sister-in-law, Barbara Skelly, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilma was a 1950 graduate of Lima South High School and with her late husband, Don, owned and operated Sports Plus Sporting Goods Store in Bellefontaine from 1984 to 1992. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Bellefontaine and belonged to several cards clubs over the years. She also volunteered for the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild for a number of years.
Pastor Byran Meadows will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024 in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine. Friends may call one hour before the service. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
