A suspect was arrested around 6:16 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14, and charged with shoplifting his fiance’s Valentine’s Day gifts.

Justin Levalley, 21, at-large, was charged with theft after employees at Wal-Mart, 2281 S. Main St., observed him concealing items in a diaper bag, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report. Store employees became suspicious of Levalley after they spotted him carrying a diaper bag around the store without a child present.

He reportedly concealed in the bag two energy drinks, two bottles of wine, a box of assorted chocolates and a Valentine’s teddy bear.

Levalley proceeded to the front of the store and used a WIC card to pay for two cans of baby formula. Upon exiting the store, he was approached by store employees and directed to the asset protection office. Police arrived and located the stolen items, totaling $43.96.

Levalley reportedly told officers he stole the items because he was short on money and wanted to give his fiance a nice Valentine’s Day.

He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
