Benjamin Logan Environmental Science Club members recently visited Freshwater Farms of Ohio to learn about sustainable fish production in an educational and engaging experience.
While at the 2624 N. U.S. Route 68 site, students also witnessed the various stages of trout development.
Freshwater Farms’ combination of conservation, regenerative agricultural practices and energy-saving initiatives aligns well with the club’s mission of promoting sustainability and habitat preservation, club advisers noted.
The collaboration between Benjamin Logan Local School and the Logan County Land Trust co-sponsor the Benjamin Logan Environmental Science Club, demonstrating a community-wide commitment to environmental education. The co-directors, including Ryan Kerns, Spencer Reames, Bruce Smith and Bob Stoll, play a crucial role in guiding the students through valuable, hands-on experiences.
During the last year, club members allowing them to actively participated in a diverse range of environmental initiatives, such as cider making, trips along the riparian zone, clearing invasives and daphnia toxicity studies.
“Overall, the Benjamin Logan Environmental Science Club seems to be making a significant impact, not only in educating its members but also in fostering a sense of environmental responsibility and appreciation for sustainable practices,” advisers noted.
