West Liberty-Salem pulled out to an early advantage Friday and put the game away after halftime en route to a 62-43 victory over Mechanicsburg in an Ohio Heritage Conference boys basketball game.
The Tigers improve to 13-3 overall and 12-1 in the OHC. Mechanicsburg falls to 1-14 overall (1-11).
WL-S outscored the Indians 14-7 in the first quarter to seize momentum. Brevin Louden scored seven points in the opening quarter, including a three-point basket to help propel WL-S to an early lead.
Mechanicsburg played the Tigers more evenly in the second quarter. WL-S was still able to outscore Mechanicsburg 17-15 in the second quarter to take a 31-22 lead into halftime.
The Tigers effectively put the game away after halftime. WL-S went on a 14-2 run in the third quarter to go up double digits 45-24 heading into the fourth quarter.
