Gerald N. Clinehens, 95, of Maplewood, passed away January 22, 2024, at The Landings of Sidney. He was born November 12, 1928, on a farm in Shelby County, to the late Harry C. Clinehens and Mabel C. (Linker) Clinehens.
He is survived by previous wife, Betty Wren of Bellefontaine, sons; Terry (Lora) Clinehens and Christopher Clinehens of Maplewood, grandchildren; Sarah (Andy) Kipker, Mark (Brittany) Clinehens, Todd (Emily) Clinehens, Ginger Clinehens, Chet (Michelle) Clinehens, nine great-grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren, brother Bernard (Phyllis) Clinehens of Maplewood, and sister Beverly Like of Ft. Loramie, and many nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his late wife Gertrude Clinehens and sisters; Marveline, Olive and Rosemary.
Gerald was a graduate of Sidney High School and a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Montra. He was a retired dairy and grain farmer in the area for many years. He also did carpentry and masonry work in the area. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking for his family and friends. He was an avid basketball fan. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Dave Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Day City Hospice in Gerald’s memory.
