Cleveland “CM” Goings, 97, of Bellefontaine, formerly of Lakeview, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 21, 2024, at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine.

CM was born on November 17, 1926, in Doerun, GA, a son of the late Alton and Maude Moselle Goings. After a two-week courtship, CM married Eunice Predmore on November 9, 1946, in Albany, GA, and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2000, after 53 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Stevens and a brother, Clyde Goings.

CM is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Stanley of Lakeview, two sons, Sonny (Sheryl) Goings of Lakeview, and Jeffrey (April) Goings of Rushsylvania, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

CM was a United States Army veteran serving during WWII. He worked at Superfoods for 24 years and then several years for A New Leaf Florist as a delivery driver. He was a member of West Mansfield United Methodist Church and 50 plus years member of West Mansfield and then East Liberty Masonic Lodge #247. CM enjoyed golfing, going to Florida, where he and Eunice had a 2nd home in Plant City, and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

Per CM’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held in Huntsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Logan Acres Foundation or West Mansfield United Methodist Church.
