Douglas C. Petty, 64, of Sidney and formerly of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away Friday evening, January 12, 2024, at 7:32pm at home.

Doug was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, on September 3, 1959, to the late Amon L. and Mary E. (Carr) Petty. He was also preceded in death by brothers Tim Petty, Rob Petty, and Mark Petty; and sister-in-law Sue Petty.

Doug is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Christopher and Barbara Petty of Sidney; a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A 1978 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Doug was a veteran of the US Coast Guard, having served from 1983 – 1987. He was employed at Swagelock in the Cleveland-area for 28 years and retired from there in 2022. Doug was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan. He loved John Wayne movies, Mexican food, hamburgers, and of course … Pizza with cheese and extra pepperoni. Doug was a beloved uncle who loved playing and interacting with his nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Doug will be Friday, January 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine.

The family would like to thank Wilson Hospice for all their help and support.
