A well-balanced offensive output in the second quarter carried Indian Lake to a 63-45 victory Friday over North Union in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division boys basketball game.
Seven different players scored in the second quarter as the Lakers (9-2, 5-0) went on a 25-12 run to build a double-digit halftime lead they would not relinquish.
North Union (9-3, 3-2) led after the first quarter.
The Wildcats and Lakers went back-and-forth to open the game, exchanging leads multiple times in the opening quarter. When the dust cleared North Union had a 12-11 lead.
The Lakers took over in the second quarter, though.
Three-point shooting carries Pirates past Bulldogs
Riverside built an early lead and pulled away late from visiting Milton-Union Friday in Three Rivers Conference boys basketball game, 55-37.
Riverside improves to 6-6 overall (3-4). Milton-Union drops to 1-9 (1-6).
Hot shooting fueled Riverside’s fast start. The Pirates connected on five three-pointers in the first quarter, including four from Gavin Orsborne to jump out to a 16-7 lead after the first quarter.
The Pirates cooled off a bit in the second quarter as the Bulldogs fought their way back. Milton-Union outscored Riverside 13-8 in the second quarter to draw to within four points at halftime, 24-20.
Riverside pulled away again after halftime, though. Jaxon Woods netted seven points in the third quarter, and five different Pirates scored a basket as Riverside seized control of the game.
Logwood sparks Tigers in win over SCC
West Liberty-Salem received a game-high 23 points from Taran Logwood to fuel a 56-40 win over visiting Springfield Catholic Central in an Ohio Heritage Conference boys basketball game Friday night.
The Tigers improve to 9-2 overall and 8-1 in the OHC. SCC drops to 3-8, 3-5.
In addition to another big night from Logwood, the Tigers saw Miles Hostetler hit double digits with 13 points. Brevin Louden scored six points and Carson Poppe and Isaiah Reames each chipped in five points.
The Tigers build a five-point cushion (16-11) after one quarter and they led by eight (29-21) at halftime.
London pulls away in 4th quarter to zap Chiefs
Visiting London dominated the fourth quarter to pull away from Bellefontaine for a 41-32 victory in Central Buckeye Conference boys basketball action Friday night.
The Chiefs drop to 2-9 overall and 1-4 in the CBC. London improves to 6-5, 3-2.
It was a closely played game for much of the night.
London led by one point (10-9) after one quarter and the Red Raiders held a 21-20 lead at halftime.
Warriors’ 4th-quarter surge upends Raiders
Visiting Northwestern overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat Benjamin Logan 44-34 in a Central Buckeye Conference boys basketball game Friday night.
The Raiders drop to 1-13 overall and 1-4 in the CBC. The Warriors improve to 4-6, 2-3.
Ben Logan led for a big chunk of the game.
The Raiders held a 12-9 lead after one quarter and they led 20-13 at halftime.
