Coffee. Java. Cup of Joe. Whatever you call the dark brew, our community has no shortage of locations to grab a hot mug on a cold day. And for the second year in a row, the chamber of commerce invites you to visit six of the best local spots around by exploring the Logan County Coffee Trail.

Thanks to the success of the trial run last winter, which saw close to 100 people taking part, this year’s trail offers six stops in Bellefontaine, Lakeview, Russells Point and West Liberty.

“Everyone has a go-to coffee shop,” Anna Louden, visitors bureau director, said. “This is a good way to broaden your experience.”

To get started, you’ll need a passport. These can be found at the chamber office as well as at the participating businesses. Those are Sweet Aromas Coffee, Native Coffee Co., Richwood Coffee, The Brown Bean, Gathering Grounds and Sweetie Pie’s.

If you don’t like coffee, you can still find plenty to enjoy on the trail. From teas, smoothies and hot chocolate to pastries and, in several cases, lunch items, there’s something for everyone.

Once your passport has been completed, turn it in at the chamber office, 100 S. Main, Bellefontaine, and claim your prize—a gift card to one of the participating establishments.

Looking for order recommendations? The chamber has the following suggestions:

  1. Gathering Grounds (337 E. Main St., Russells Point): The Harry Potter-themed drinks are a local favorite.
  2. Native Coffee Co. (200 W. Columbus Ave., Bellefontaine): Try their Cubano, an espresso drink.
  3. Sweet Aromas Coffee (120 E. Court Ave., Bellefontaine): Some describe the caramel latte as “heavenly.”
  4. Sweetie Pie’s Baked Goods & Coffee Shop (129 N. Detroit St., West Liberty): Warm up with a hot cup of Ethiopian coffee.
  5. The Brown Bean (13627 St. Rt. 235, Lakeview): The London Fog will appeal to tea drinkers with its blend of Earl Grey, lavender and/or vanilla, plus milk.
  6. Richwood Coffee (120 E. Sandusky Ave., Bellefontaine): The caramel snowbank is cozier than it sounds.

Though participants are welcome to fill out their passport at their own pace, it should be turned in by the end of February to receive a gift card.
