Nicol breaks all-time scoring record in win
Indian Lake scored the first 28 points of the game Friday en route to an easy 79-16 victory over visiting Benjamin Logan in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division game.
For the Lakers (6-0, 3-0) the most drama Friday was waiting on Caiden Nicol to break the Indian Lake High School career scoring record. Nicol entered the game one point shy of surpassing the mark set in 1998 by Brian Gehle.
Midway through the first quarter, Nicol, a senior, collected an outlet pass on a breakaway and shook the rim with a dunk that game him 1,163 career points in his high school career. The game was paused briefly to acknowledge the new school record.

Tigers pounce Roughriders for OHC win
West Liberty-Salem remained unbeaten Friday in Ohio Heritage Conference play, coasting to a runaway 53-16 victory at West Jefferson.
The Tigers (5-1, 5-0) got off to a fast start and never looked back, opening up a double-digit lead early on that West Jefferson (0-5, 0-5) never seriously threatened.
The Tigers led 17-6 after the first quarter on the strength of three three-point field goals from Caleb Hershberger.
Slow start sinks Pirates in loss to Miami East
A double-digit first quarter deficit proved too much to overcome Friday for Riverside, as the Pirates fell 82-62 to visiting Miami East in a Three Rivers Conference boys basketball game.
The Pirates fall to 3-5 (1-4). Miami East improves to 5-3 (3-2).
Miami East doubled up Riverside in the first quarter, outscoring the Pirates 24-12 in the opening period.
Gavin Orsborne scored 10 points in the second quarter for the Pirates, as Riverside tried to hang around before halftime. The Pirates outscored the Vikings 17-16 in the second quarter and trailed at halftime 40-29.
Pioneers attack early, put away Chiefs
Jonathan Alder came out hot and host Bellefontaine could not keep pace Friday night.
The Pioneers led by 20 points at halftime and went on to win 76-44 in a Central Buckeye Conference boys basketball game.
The Chiefs drop to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the CBC. Alder improves to 3-2, 2-1.
Alder had four players score in double figures, led by 18 points from Sam Cramer and 16 from Peyton Heiss.
C.J. Wilson was the lone Chieftain in double digits with 12 points.
