Tigers derail Panthers in OHC clash

WestLibertySalem TigersHost West Liberty-Salem fought off Fairbanks for a 65-61 win in an Ohio Heritage Conference boys basketball game Tuesday night.

The Tigers are now 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the OHC. The Panthers drop to 4-2, 4-1.

Fairbanks jumped out to a 20-8 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers fought back to get within four points (35-31) at halftime.

WL-S continued its surge in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers 15-9 to move in front 46-44.

The Tigers were two points better (19-17) in the fourth period to secure
the victory. Taran Logwood scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Tigers.

Brevin Louden and Caleb Hershberger each had 12 points and Miles Hostetler had 10 points.

Brayden Wiedmann led the Panthers with 20 points.

In the junior varsity game, the Tigers won 52-37. Sam Strapp led the Tigers with 14 points and Sutton Wilcoxon had 13 points. The Tigers’ freshman team lost 33-31. Tucker Searles had eight points and Casey Boyer had seven points for WL-S.
