A Bellefontaine City Schools bus was evacuated around 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, after a middle school student claimed to have put a bomb onboard.
In a call to parents, Superintendent Brad Hall said the bus was evacuated “out of an abundance of caution.”
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department responded to the high school and secured a 300-foot perimeter around the bus. A bomb squad from Lima was requested to ensure the bus is safe and free of explosives.
Students impacted by the evacuation of the school bus were placed on a separate school bus to be transported home.
As part of the secured perimeter roads near the high school were also closed off by law enforcement.
