Ronald E. McCafferty, 76, of Lakeview, OH, passed away Friday morning, December 15, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.

Ronald was born on July 16, 1947, in Bellefontaine, OH, a son of the late Clyde McCafferty and Geraldine Zelma Huffman McCafferty Seeling. He was preceded by his stepfather, Joseph Seeling, two sisters, Becky Lawrence, and Sandy McCafferty, and two brothers, Bob McCafferty, and Tom Seeling.

Ron married Martha Kuba on July 25, 1974, in Lewistown, OH and she survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Christi (Lee) Yantis of Lewistown, and Amber (Tim) Moore of Circleville, OH. Three grandsons, Noah (Kailee) Fought, Skyler McCafferty, and Joseph Yantis, three great grandsons, Jaxon Fought, Carter Fought, and Levi Fought, six siblings, William “Bill” McCafferty of Mt. Victory, OH, Walter (Betty) McCafferty of Marion, OH, Sue (Rulon) Spring of Lakeview, Jeff (Linda) McCafferty of Belle Center, OH, Theresa Hangholt of Lakeview, and Tina (Greg) Williams of Bellefontaine, two sisters-in-law, Kathy McCafferty of Olive Hill, KY, and Evelyn Kuba of West Liberty, OH, a brother-in-law, Paul Crockett of North Lewisburg, OH, and several special nieces and nephews.

Ron was a welder by trade and retired from General Dynamics in Lima after 20 plus years. Ron was also quite the handyman and jack of all trades. His kind heart lent to helping others in any way he saw the need including building the original playground at Indian Lake Northside Church of the Nazarene. Ron and Marty opened their home to many family members and friends over the years. Ron enjoyed fishing and collecting coins. He was an avid football fan and especially enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Bengals and OSU Buckeyes.

Pastor Tim Moebs will begin funeral services at 6 p.m., Tuesday, December 19, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview with visitation from 3 to 6 p.m.

Inurnment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given in Ron’s memory to Shiners Children’s Hospital, Logan County Cancer Society or Universal Hospice Care.
