Richard Benge Jr., 76, passed away peacefully November 18, 2023 at Ohio’s Hospice after a brief stay in the ICU at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, OH. He was born In Indianapolis, IN on March 14, 1947.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ruby Jane Crowder Benge and Richard Benge, as well as a son Robert Arthur Benge. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Elaine Cordrey Benge. They we married November 18, 1967.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Maria Benge and granddaughter, Alexis Anne-Marie Benge (Andy) Peterson. He is also survived by siblings David Randolph Benge, Ruth Alice Lumetta, Rebecca Sue Benge, and Martha Jane Cecil as well as their spouses and a host of grand and great grand nieces and nephews, two great grandchildren, Timothy and Tobias Peterson.

“Rick” was a 1965 graduate of West Liberty-Salem High School and after his Vietnam era Navy Service, a graduate of Urbana University with a BS degree in Business. He then went to work at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in the area of contracts and is a retiree of that entity. He is also a former member of the West Liberty-Salem School Board.

He had eclectic taste in music, liked old TV shows, especially westerns, food, guns and traveling. He loved his family, friends and country. He will be missed.

Memorial Services are being planned for summer of 2024. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice
