Woman lodged for telecommunication harassment

Dellzell Chenoweth, 61, of 430 N. Oak St., Lakeview, was charged with telecommunications harassment and resisting arrest relating to an incident Monday, Nov. 20.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office initially were dispatched shortly after noon to her address for a well-being check. Dispatchers from the Bellefontaine Police Department reported that Chenoweth was continuously calling Mary Rutan Hospital, stating that Chenoweth was acting erratically and screaming.

Deputies made the well-being check, but then were dispatched back to the Oak Street residence about 1:55 p.m. after the defendant reportedly had treated to harm staff members at the hospital.

While speaking with Chenoweth, deputies observed an odor of alcohol on her breath and said her speech was slurred. She denied making any threats against the employee.

Chenoweth began to resist deputies’ efforts to place her under arrest, but she was secured in handcuffs and transported to the Logan County Jail.

Charge filed after rolling domestic dispute
Terry A. Hassel, 57, of 212 Grant St., Bellefontaine, was charged with domestic violence Saturday, Nov. 18, after a reported rolling domestic dispute.

Deputies were dispatched about 4:35 p.m. to the area of county roads 9 and 57 in reference to a domestic dispute.

Deputies arrived and spoke with Hassel’s husband, who said his wife had been drinking alcohol since about 11 a.m. and that she became irate and “attacked him” in their vehicle.

He stated he was driving his car to church with his wife in the passenger seat, and that she struck him in the face and head numerous times. He stated he stopped the vehicle and told her to get out, and she was picked up by her son.

Hassel was located at a family member’s home in Bellefontaine. Deputies observed that she showed signs of being under the influence of intoxicants. She told deputies she had become angry after a difficult conversation and struck her husband in the face multiple times.

Hassel was placed under arrest and lodged in the jail.
