Jon Payton, 53, of Lakeview, was issued multiple citations for drug and alcohol offenses following a traffic stop executed by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department around 12:03 a.m., Monday, Nov. 13, in the area of the 3100 block of south U.S. Route 68.
Officers on patrol observed the registration tag did not match the vehicle the defendant was driving and initiated a stop.
Upon making contact with Payton, he admitted to not possessing a valid license and also admitted to having marijuana inside the vehicle, as well as marijuana paraphernalia.
An open container of alcohol was also observed inside the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were attempted and were successfully completed. Payton was issued a traffic citation for driving under suspension, and was also cited for possession of drugs and for having an open container inside a vehicle.
