Jamer Jay Monteith, age 57, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 7, 2023, at his home after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on May 4, 1966, to the late Chuck and Shirley (Fox) Monteith.
Jay is survived by his wife, Michelle; son, Carson Monteith; stepdaughter, Tasha Ruble; the proud Papaw to three grandchildren, Bexley, Mila, and Vallie Ruble; sisters, Gretchen Houchin and Marta Monteith; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rob Monteith.
Jay was a 1984 graduate of Benjamin Logan High School and received an associate degree from Northwestern University. He was a Hondroid at HAM working in the paint department for 30 plus years, making many friends with lots of laughs that lasted his entire career and after. Jay joyfully retired in August 2021.
He was an active member of the dry humor club and could make anyone laugh in even the most awkward moments. Jay had an intimidating look but everyone that knew him knew he was the softest teddy bear you could ever meet, with a giant heart. If he wasn’t going on off-road trips with the guys, taking quirky selfies with every sign and object he came across, then you’d find him either enjoying a bonfire with some weird KFC smelling wood or exploring the great outdoors with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, November 10, 2023, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine.
EICHHOLTZ DARING & SANFORD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, BELLEFONTAINE is honored to serve the Monteith family and encourages anyone to share a fond memory or message of condolence at www.edsfh.com.
