Phyllis Marie (Hudson) Foreman, age 95, passed away at Logan Acres Care Facility on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023.

She was born September 17, 1928, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and was the only child of A.J. and Imogene (Durflinger) Hudson.

Phyllis graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1946 and went on to attend Indiana University and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She married Herbert E. Foreman on January 31, 1950, who preceded her in death September 1, 2009.

She loved serving as a substitute teacher throughout Logan County, and enjoyed her role as Program Assistant at the Ohio State University Extension Office where she taught children about litter control and recycling, and supported the 4-H program. She loved the farm, adored her farm animals, and although not particularly good at it, she was an avid mushroom hunter.

Phyllis was a member of the Zanesfield United Methodist Church. She was a 4-H Advisor for many years. Her hobbies included painting and drawing, gardening and tending to her many flower beds. She was a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds and OSU Buckeyes, and loved feeding, caring for, and watching the menagerie of birds in her back yard. nAbove all else, she dearly loved her family and extended family.

She is survived by her three children, Stephen (Kayleen) Foreman of West Liberty, William (Mary) Foreman of Bellefontaine, Pamela (Lee) Defibaugh of Locust Grove, VA; Grandchildren, Jennifer Foreman, Stephanie (Wes) Ballard, Grant (Mandy) Foreman, Dustin Williams, Bobbi Myers, Jamie Myers, Toni Myers, Mitchell Cheadle, Matt Cheadle, MacKenzie Neer, Carmen Link, Justin Defibaugh, Megan (Bryan New) Defibaugh; 28 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and Sister-in-law, Patricia Foreman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 yrs, Herbert E. Foreman, grandson Cody Laird; niece and nephews, Lois and David Messer and Greg Messer.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, November 6, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home and Crematory 5591 US Route 68 S. West Liberty, Ohio 43357. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Phyllis’ memory, to the Zanesfield United Methodist Church Emergency Fund, 2880 Main Street, PO Box 17, Zanesfield, Ohio 43360.

Phyllis’ family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to her church family for their spiritual influence and constant friendship throughout Phyllis’ life, as well as special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Logan Acres for providing such loving care during mom’s last years.
