Fall leaf pick up schedule announced for Bellefontaine

The office of Bellefontaine Service-Safety Director Wes Dodds announces the leaf pick up schedule for the City of Bellefontaine:

• Oct. 23, 24 and 25 — North of Columbus Avenue and east of Main Street.
• Oct. 26, 27 and 30 — South of Columbus Avenue and east of Main Street.
• Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 — South of Columbus Avenue and west of Main Street.
• Nov. 2 and 3 — North of Columbus Avenue and west of Main Street.
After this schedule is completed, a second round is tentatively scheduled as follows:
• Nov. 6, 7 and 8 — The Northeast sector.
• Nov. 9, 13 and 14 — The Southeast sector.
• Nov. 15 and 16 — The Southwest sector.
• Nov. 17 and 20 — The Northwest sector.

The week of Oct. 16 the street department will pick up on an “on call basis.” You can email them at wvolbrecht or call (937) 592-1736.

Leaves need to be piled in the boulevard or as close to the street as possible, but not in the street or on the sidewalk. Do not park your vehicles in front of the piles, where the leaf machine cannot get to the leaves.

No other materials such as branches, brush or trash can be picked up by the leaf machine. No bags will be accepted.

Remember, by law, the regular refuse collection is not allowed to pick up leaves or any other yard waste.

Per City Ordinance 521.12: No person shall deposit, permit or allow any grass clippings, shrub or bush trimmings, flowers or any material on any street or alley which might wash into or clog any storm sewer.
