Kevin Wray, 53, of Quincy, was charged with assaulting a cell phone representative following an altercation at the Verizon Wireless store, 1738 S. Main St., that occurred around 11:20 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28.

Officers of Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to the store on a report the defendant had reached across a customer service desk and choked an employee because he was upset over charges to his account and equipment he reportedly wanted to return.

The victim stated that Wray grabbed him by the neck and restricted his breathing. Wray told officers the victim had become confrontational with him first and was face-to-face with him at one point.

Wray told police he’d been to the each of the last three days trying to sort out his cell phone bill because he was overcharged.
