Joel A. Lehman, 86, of West Liberty, was flown by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton for treatment of suspected serious injuries sustained in a crash Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Lehman was operating a John Deere Gator about 10:55 a.m. and pulled from a driveway at 1673 W. State Route 245 onto the roadway and traveled southbound across the westbound lane of travel and then crossing into the eastbound lane.

The all-terrain vehicle then struck an eastbound 2017 Ram 1500 operated by Terry R. Hart, 73, of Conover.

Hart did not report any injuries. Lehman was cited for failure to yield. Damage was moderate to the ATV and light to the pickup.

Man lodged for possession of meth
George L. Cook, 48, of Marysville, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident Sunday, Sept 24.
Deputies initially responded to an address in West Mansfield on a 911 call regarding a woman who had been overdosing.

Prior to arriving at the residence, deputies learned that the woman had left the home in a vehicle, reportedly headed to an area hospital for treatment.
Deputies located the vehicle stopped with its hood up in the area of State Route 347 and U.S. Route 33 and stopped to check on the occupants.

Deputies noticed a woman lying in the back seat covered by a blanket. When they spoke to her, she told deputies she was fine and also that she didn’t have any illegal substances on her person.

Another passenger in the vehicle, Cook, was acting suspiciously. Deputies conducted a pat down search of his person, and they located a clear bottle containing a crystal-like substance in his pocket, along with drug paraphernalia on his person and on the passenger side of the vehicle. Deputies said the crystal-like substance was suspected methamphetamine.

Cook was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
