The Logan County Cattle Association celebrated another successful year at their summer picnic Sunday, Aug. 20, at the Logan County Fairgrounds, where a local family was also honored for their dedication to the local beef industry.
Dale and Cindy Blieninger and their family were presented with the 2023 Logan County Friend of Beef Award.
High school sweethearts Dale and Cindy graduated the same class at Benjamin Logan Schools in 1977. They live on Cindy’s mother and father’s farm (Fred and Ruth Lenhart) just north and east of Belle Center. Fred and Ruth moved there in 1937.
Cindy’s dad Fred Lenhart sold seed corn and Cindy was always in the truck ready to go when her dad was delivering seed corn to Dale’s dad, Carl, she remembers.
Dale farmed with his dad for several years before going to work for AP Technoglas which is now AGC. Dale worked for 37 years in their machine shop, keeping all the equipment maintained and in good working order.
He continues to raise a few beef cattle and markets them via freezer beef.
Cindy began working for Siemens and later switched to Honda, from where she retired after 24 years. Now she works for the Logan County Libraries.
Dale became involved with the Logan County Cattle Association in the mid 1990’s. Dale has served as vice president and president back in the days when Robin Davis Ubele was secretary.
“Dale has served eight years as the keeper of treasury for the Logan County Cattle Association, and we all appreciate his dedication and service,” members said.
Dale and Cindy have been married for 42 years, and have two children, Aaron and Ashley. Both Ashley and Aaron were long time 4-H and FFA exhibitors at the Logan County Fair.
Ashley is married to Doug Stehlin and they live in Wilmington with their 8-year-old son, Logan, who is a wrestler. Ashley teaches third-grade and Doug is a sixth-grade teacher.
Aaron and his wife Morgan are newlyweds and live in Morristown in Belmont County.
Morgan is a physician assistant and Aaron attended ATI and is a herdsman for Shurter Beef Farm. He and Morgan own and manage an 80-head cow herd.
