Man lodged for assault

Tanner W. Conwell, 39, of 300 E. Lake Drive, #11, Lakeview, was charged with assault related to an incident Thursday, Aug 3.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 3:40 p.m. to the area of Daycol Drive, Lakeview. The defendant, Conwell, had already left the area in a sport utility vehicle.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with a male victim and female victim.
The male victim reportedly was bleeding from a cut from his forehead, and and the pocket on his shirt was torn. He advised deputies that he had come over to help the female victim with at her house when he was approached by Conwell, who reportedly began punching him in the face. He said the defendant also tried to pull him out of the vehicle.

The female victim told deputies that Conwell shoved her when she tried to break up the fight and said her shoulder was hurting from the incident.

Both victims declined to be checked out by a squad.

A short time later, Conwell was located during a traffic stop on eastbound U.S. Route 33 near the State Route 274 overpass, where he was stopped for a speed violation.

The defendant told deputies that he had stopped to talk with one of the victims regarding child custody issues. He said the male subject at the residence got in his vehicle and grabbed him by the face and that the woman hit him in the ribs.The defendant had a red mark on his rib cage area.

Conwell was placed under arrest.

No injuries reported in C.R. 10 crash
Anna M. Wintersteller, 18, of Bellefontaine, was cited for failure to control related to a non-injury crash Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Deputies report she was operating an eastbound 2009 Honda CR-V on County Road 10 near County Road 5 about 9:50 a.m. when she traveled off the left side of the road, striking a guardrail, ditch and fence, coming to rest against a culvert.

Damage was heavy to the SUV, which was towed from the scene. The driver was wearing her seat belt.

• Patricia F. McCreary, 67, of West Liberty, did not report any injuries Thursday, Aug. 3, after her vehicle struck a goat in the road on Township Road 150 near State Route 287.
Deputies report she was operating an eastbound 2016 Honda CR-V about 2 p.m. when her vehicle struck the goat, causing light damage to the sport utility vehicle. No citations were issued and the driver was wearing her seat belt.

• Michelle M. Sparks, 52, of Rushsylvania, was cited for failure to control related to a non-injury crash Tuesday.

Deputies report she was operating an eastbound 2019 Toyota Highlander On Euclid Street in Rushsylvania at 3 p.m., when she drove off the right side of the road, striking a road sign. Damage was light to her vehicle and the driver was wearing her seat belt.
