Ralph F. Shively, 96, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday evening, July 30, 2023, at Logan Acres Care Center.

Ralph was born in Sidney, Ohio, on February 22, 1927, to the late Abraham Wyland and Opal Clarine (Barlow) Shively. He was also preceded in death by a son John P. Shively, and sisters Eileen Ambos and Jane Martin.

Ralph is survived by a daughter, Leslie “LeeAnn” (Ron) Swonguer of Huntsville; sons: Dan (Brenda) Shively of Bellefontaine, and Charlie (Rhonda) Shively of Shelbyville, Texas; 3 grandchildren: Jana (Tim) McPherson, Kylene (Josh) Pick, and Troy (Amber) Shively; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A veteran of World War II, Ralph served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a molder at Hartzell Propeller Fan in Piqua for 40 years before he retired. Ralph had a love for science, nature, and music and shared his appreciation of these with his family members. He also enjoyed reading about the Civil War and the history of World War I, World War II, and astronomy.

There will be no public services. Ralph will be interred in Philadelphia Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Universal Home Health Hospice, 921 Rush Ave. Bellefontaine, OH 43311, or to the charity of donor’s choice.
