Daniel P. Oakley, 34, of 15643 State Route 720, Lakeview, was charged with a felony count of domestic violence related to an incident early Monday morning, July 24.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 3:45 a.m. to an address on Union Street in Lakeview on well-being check.
When deputies arrived at the residence, they spoke with Oakley, who reported that he and his pregnant girlfriend had been in an argument, but that nothing physical had occurred.
However, when deputies spoke with the girlfriend outside, she showed deputies her neck and stated that Oakley had attempted to choke her. Deputies observed marks on her neck that resembled marks where red marks and pressure had been applied.
The victim she was on the floor at one point during the altercation and she was trying to “protect her belly from being hurt” because she is pregnant. She also told deputies that
Oakley covered her mouth while she was screaming, telling her that “the neighbors could hear her.”
Oakley was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail. He related to deputies that he also has another domestic violence charge in the courts right now.
Minor injuries reported in rollover crash
Jaise J. Lawrence, 18, of Lakeview, was checked at the scene of a crash Sunday, July 23, by Indian Lake EMS personnel for reported minor injuries, but was not transported from the scene.
Deputies report he was operating a northbound 2006 Honda Accord in the 4100 block of State Route 235 at 7 a.m. when he went into the opposite lane of travel and went off the left side of the road, over top of an elevated drive, causing the vehicle to overturn and come to rest in a ditch.
Damage was heavy to the car, which was towed from the scene. The driver reportedly was not wearing a seat belt and was cited for failure to control. Deputies said Lawrence was falling asleep/ fatigued at the time of the crash.
