Bellefontaine

Date:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Beverly Jean Dawson on July 23, 2023 at Ayden Health Care of Belle Springs in Bellefontaine, Ohio, with her children by her side.

Mom was born on February 18, 1936 to Orel Bowman and Theresa Lovella (Aiken) Lindsey in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Grandpa was an Army man and during his assignment in Japan, Mom met a young sailor in church and fell instantly in love. They returned to the states and were married in Oklahoma City on November 17, 1953. Mom graduated from Leavenworth High School, Leavenworth, Kansas in 1954.

She joined dad in Whidbey Island, Washington where their first son Richard Dean was born. Dad got out of the service and they moved to Michigan where they went on to have two more children, Michael Thomas and Debra Lynn. Unfortunately, Mom and Dad were divorced in 1981.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, Orel and Theresa, oldest son Richard Dean (Rick), and the father of her children, Richard Wayne Dawson and a sister, Kathleen (Vince) Young. She is survived by her son Michael (Barb) of Berkeley Springs, WV, and daughter Deb (Dave) Allison of Bellefontaine. Grandchildren Dana Leigh (David) Desharnais, of Gulfport, MS, Andrew David Allison (Katie Collins-Conkle) of New Albany, OH and Christopher Lincoln Allison (Valerie Kramer) of Milford Center, OH, great grandchildren David and Darcey Desharnais and Katie’s son Andy Conkle, sister-in-law, Nancy Dawson; several nieces and nephews.

Mom loved receiving flowers but hated us spending money on them because “they would just die.” So in lieu of flowers, please consider a Memorial Donation to The Logan County Cancer Society, 205 E. Palmer Ave. Bellefontaine, OH 43311 or Hospice Care of St. Rita’s, 300 W. Market St., Lima, OH 45801

A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, July 29, at noon at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Cemetery following the service.

Online Condolences may be expressed at www.jenningsfarley.com
