Brenda Shields, 50, of Bellefontaine, was charged for possession of methamphetamine following an exchange with officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department that occurred around 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 14.
Police were dispatched to the area of Albert Street near Cook Avenue on a report of tires and debris being placed improperly on a neighbor’s property. Officers were told it was Shields who left the tires on the neighbor’s property.
Contact was made with Shields who was found sitting inside a silver Honda Accord with the engine off. As officers approached, the defendant reportedly began to hurriedly move items around the car.
Marijuana was observed in plain view on the passenger seat. Further search of the car turned up suspected methamphetamine within reach of Shields.
The defendant admitted to having used methamphetamine in the last week. She was charged and lodged in Logan County Jail.
Driver logged following traffic stop
David Durand, 39, of Mechanicsburg, was charged with possession of drugs and paraphernalia and for lying to officers following a 9:19 a.m. traffic stop executed Wednesday, July 19, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department in the area of 101 E. Sandusky Ave.
Officers on patrol observed the defendant fail to stop at a red light at the intersection of northbound Main Street at Columbus Avenue.
Law enforcement caught up with Durand and initiated the stop. Upon making contact, law enforcement was provided an Oregon driver’s license. It was obviously a fake, police report.
When confronted, Durand eventually admitted to misleading law enforcement because he thought he was wanted from Illinois.
Police confirmed his identity, but he was not wanted. However, Durand did not have a valid license.
A search of the vehicle revealed assorted marijuana joints and paraphernalia, as well as THC wax.
He was charged with driving without a license, failure to reinstate, providing false information, identity fraud, possession of drugs and paraphernalia and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Intoxicated bar patron lodged
Colin Lewis, 43, of Bellefontaine, was charged with assault following an incident at the Pink House, 600 Jay Ave., that occurred around 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 19.
Officers were dispatched to that location on a report the suspect had pushed the victim into a pool table causing extensive bruising following an altercation. The victim reported Lewis entered the bar and was already impaired.
Lewis was behaving erratically and was asked to leave and became confrontational.
The victim had two knotted abrasions on the right side of their head, a large bruise on the right arm, and the right side of their cheek was bruised after being pushed into the pool table, officers report, and was taken by private vehicle to Mary Rutan Hospital.
Officers made contact with the suspect at a residence on Walker Street. He was visibly impaired, and claimed the victim touched him first, but admitted to the assault.
