Donald R. Selhorst, 82, of Rushsylvania, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Kobacker House, Columbus.
He was born in Lima, Ohio on March 28, 1941, the son of the late Victor Henry Sehlhorst and Gertrude (Utrup) Geckle. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Colleen Geer.
He is survived by his three children: Tonya Cole of Rushsylvania, Troy (Lisa) Selhorst of Rushsylvania, and Yvonne (Tom) Herring of East Liberty, seven grandchildren: Dustin (Jenni) Mobley of Belle Center, Ryan Cole of Ball Ground, GA, Lance Cole of Columbus, Matt (Chelsea) Conley of Findlay, Troy (Miranda Peck) Selhorst of Cleveland, Corinne Herring, Madeline Herring, both of of East Liberty, five great grandchildren: Camlyn, Rae, Isabelle, Jacob, and Olivia, one brother, Jim (Pam) Geckle, three sisters: Doris Easterday, Vicki Wilson, Cecelia (Douglas) Bryan, numerous nieces & nephews, and a special friend, Karen Sayre of Anna.
Don was a U.S. Navy veteran. He farmed most of his life, loving the land and the cattle he raised on his Meadowbrook Farms. He also worked 30 years at Rockwell in Kenton and later at Pleasant Precision in Kenton, all while farming. He was a member of the Rushsylvania Church of Christ, where he had served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School. He also had belonged to the Lion’s Club in Rushsylvania for 35 years, Logan County Cattlemen’s Association and was a founding board member of the Quest Federal Credit Union, where he was also a past president.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, OH. Pastor John Watkins will officiate a funeral service on Wednesday, July 19, at 11 a.m. in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine.
Burial will follow in Harper Cemetery (Rush Creek Twp.) with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
