Indian Lake’s Madison Brentlinger and Riverside’s Alaina Snow were selected to first team for the all-Southwest District softball squads in their respective divisions this spring.
Brentlinger, who pitched and hit the Lakers to a spot in the state championship game last weekend, earned first-team honors in Division III.
A junior, Brentlinger finished the season with a record of 26-4 in the pitching circle. She had an ERA of 1.83 and recorded 96 strikeouts in 176 innings.
At the plate, Brentlinger batted .540 with 11 doubles, seven triples, one home run and 48 RBI.
Snow, a senior, was named to the Division IV first team.
Snow also was a standout both in the pitching circle and at the plate.
She went 12-7 with a 2.10 ERA, striking out 170 in 119 2/3 innings.
With the bat, Snow recorded a .392 average with nine doubles, one triple, one home run and 19 RBI.
Several other local players were honored with honorable mention selections.
Benjamin Logan’s Kenzee Roseburrough and Rhea Harner were named to the honorable mention list in Division II.
Roseburrough batted .417 with eight doubles, six home runs and 38 RBI, while Harner hit .414 with 10 doubles, three triples and one home run.
Indian Lake’s Mackenzie Dixon and Haylee Edwards were special mention picks in Division III.
Dixon batted .442 with eight doubles, five triples and 43 RBI and Edwards hit .544 with six doubles, two triples and 14 RBI.
In Division IV, Riverside’s Jade Copas and Triad’s Lily Greene earned honorable mention awards.
Copas powered the Pirates’ offense, batting .470 with 14 doubles, one triple, one home run and 20 RBI.
