Date:

Harriet Ann (Warye) Seeley, 91 of Bellefontaine went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Mary Rutan Hospital.

Harriet was born April 19, 1932 in Mingo, Ohio to the late John and Nellie (Yoder) Warye, the third of four children. On September 7, 1951 at their preacher’s house in Champaign County she married the love of her life James Ivan Seeley, who preceded her in death in 2009. Working as a team they built a beautiful life and family together, with over 58 years of marriage.

Harriet learned to play the piano at a young age. When a teenager, at the suggestion of her father, Harriet learned to play the organ which she continued to play throughout her life.  Harriet enjoyed playing games, talking, and playing music with her grandchildren; but the twinkle of her eye was watching and teaching her great grandchildren to play chopsticks on the piano! She was the organist at three churches which included St. Paris First Church of God, Ft. Meyers First Church of God and her home church, the Bellefontaine First Church of God. She also was a Sunday School teacher, giving a bell to her students as a Christmas present.

Harriet worked for 17 years at Westinghouse in Bellefontaine. After retiring, whenever Jim would say “Let’s go” Harriet had the bags and car packed ready to go off on an adventure.  She enjoyed wintering in Texas, Arizona and Florida. She also enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Canada, Africa as well as a Gaither’s Alaskan Cruise. Harriet volunteered at Mary Rutan Hospital as a “Gray Lady” and enjoyed singing in the Tuesday choir at the Friendly Senior Center in Bellefontaine.

Harriet appreciated the beauty of an apple tree and its harvest. Her country home was pleasant, especially her back porch that faced the farm. Looking out on the beauty of God’s earth was a spiritual experience and cherished deeply. Harriet has spent the last year of her life at Logan Acres where she enjoyed music and playing the piano. Harriet was a caring matriarch to her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, James Michael (Jeanny) Seeley and Vanessa Ann Million; daughter in law, Glenna G. Seeley; grandchildren, Mark Seeley, Matthew Seeley, John Seeley, Maria Lyle, Larissa Seeley, Saul Seeley, Ciara Seeley, Kyle Seeley, Kristen Dinovo, Kurt Seeley, Valorie Million, Christopher Million and James Million; 22 great grandchildren; brother, Howard Warye; sister, Hilda Brenneman; many nieces, nephews and extended church family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Ivan Seeley; son, David L. “Dave” Seeley; son in law, Timothy E. Million; great granddaughter, Hope Seeley; brother and sister in law, Herbert & Phyllis Warye; sister in law, Shirley Warye; brother in law, Wayne Brenneman.

A Funeral Service will be officiated by three of Harriet’s loving grandsons with Pastor Gary Brown to assist on Thursday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory, 5591 US Highway 68 S. West Liberty, OH 43357. Visitation will take place Wednesday, June 7, at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Cemetery following the service.

Consider a Memorial Donation in Harriet’s name to The Friendly Senior Center Choir of Bellefontaine, Ohio or The Bellefontaine First Church of God.
