Benjamin Logan’s Isabel Henderson and Indian Lake’s Elayna Richardson both earned Division II state track and field meet berths during Saturday’s regional meet.
Henderson, who was a state placer in the high jump last year, is headed back to state in two events.
She took second place in the long jump with a school-record leap of 17-11.25. The previous record of 17-03.5 was set by Stevie Plikerd in 2016.
Henderson also placed third in the 200 in a school-record time of 25.51, breaking her own record set in Thursday’s prelim race.
Henderson, who added a fifth-place finish in the 100 (12.88) and a seventh-place finish in the high jump (5-0), will compete in the 200 prelims at 3:40 p.m. Friday at Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus. The top nine will qualify to Saturday’s finals. She will also compete in the long jump finals at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Indian Lake’s Richardson is also state bound after finishing second in the 400 in a time of 56.87.
In other regional results from the Division II meet Saturday, the Raiders’ Kate Gulick was sixth in the 300 hurdles in a PR of 47.52 and Georgia Bates was 13th in the 1,600 (5:38.62).
Ben Logan’s boys team had two regional placers Saturday.
Trevor Berry was seventh in the shot put (45-4) and Yale Scheiderer was seventh in the 110 hurdles (16.43).
For the Lady Lakers, Richardson placed seventh in the 200 (27.04), the 800 relay team of Reece Martin, Jalan Martin, Addison Beck and Richardson finished seventh (1:47.16), Reagan Rash was 13th in the 800 (2:26) and Evie Wagner was 14th in the 3,200 (13:20).
For the Laker boys, Brant Parsell was eighth in the 300 hurdles (41.36).
