Lucy Marie Turner, 84, of Bellefontaine and formerly of Newport, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Urbana Health & Rehab.

Lucy was born in Yokohama, Japan, on January 8, 1939, to the late Charles Henry Moss and Fusa Nishizawa. She married Kenneth E. Turner on February 14, 1976, and he preceded her in death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by a son James C. Turner, step-son John Turner, and grandsons Brandon Turner and SSgt. Sonny Zimmerman.

Lucy is survived by children: Jennifer Nicol of Bellefontaine, Janet Turner of Lewistown, Michelle (Chris) Zimmerman of Waynesfield, and Angela Mathews of Bellefontaine; step-children: Larry Turner of Atlanta, and Barbara (Bob) Wade of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and special friends Pam Grube, Jaye Domoto, Melanie and Brian Geboy.

Lucy was a graduate of St. Maur International School in Yokohama, Japan.  She came to the United States in the 1960s and later worked at Honda for 15 years before retiring in 2001.  Lucy enjoyed reading books, listening to music, knitting and watching TV.  She was an animal lover and cared deeply for her pets.  In her later years, Lucy loved spending time at Walmart.

During her lifetime, Lucy was influenced by Kaison and Aunt Marion.   The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Urbana Health & Rehab for the care they provided to Lucy.

A celebration of Lucy’s life will be Saturday, May 20, at noon at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
