Local squads off to a good start at CBC meet

Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan and Indian Lake all had a strong first day in the Central Buckeye Conference track and field championships Tuesday at Bellefontaine High School.

The host Chiefs are currently second in the Kenton Trail division girls meet with 33 points. Jonathan Alder is leading with 36.5

Bellefontaine’s boys are sitting in third with 30 points. Jonathan Alder is first with 40 points and London is second with 32.

Indian Lake’s girls team has a 34-27 edge over Benjamin Logan in the Mad River division after one day.

In the Mad River boys meet, Ben Logan is currently second behind North Union (40) with 36 points. Indian Lake is in third with 26 points.

The remaining field events and the running finals will take place Friday.

Leading Bellefontaine’s girls team Tuesday was Kelsie Snapp, who won the shot put (35-7).

Finishing second for the Lady Chiefs were Perri Neeld in the shot put (32-9.25) and Callie Shumaker in the high jump (4-8).

The Chiefs’ 3,200 relay team of Harper Penhorwood, Kailyn Newman, Montanna Buck and Kaleigh Flora was fourth (10:45.20), Rylie Reames was fifth in the high jump (4-6) and Newman was sixth in the 1,600 (6:06.45).

For Bellefontaine’s boys team, Carter Kuhn led the way with a first-place finish in the pole vault (11-6).

Haiden Manns was third for the Chiefs in the discus, while teammate Sullivan Ashcraft was fourth in that event (129-0).

The Chiefs’ 3,200 relay team of Carter Snapp, Tony Stewart, Hayden Maus and Zavier May finished fourth (8:43.34).

Taking fifth for BHS were Tony Stewart in the 1,600 (4:47.57) and Collin Deitsch in the long jump (18-1.75).

Seth Taylor was sixth for the Chiefs in the 1,600 (4:55.45) and Ethan Orahood was sixth in the long jump (18-1).

Indian Lake’s girls team was led by a first-place finish from Reagan Rash in the 3,200 (12:22.22).

The Lakers’ Grace Pequignot was second in the shot put (36-3) and teammate Stephanie Altstaetter was third in the shot (35-4).

Finishing fourth for the Lady Lakers were the 3,200 relay team of Hannah Metzger, KaiLea Miller, Evie Wagner and Cambria Tuttle (11:10.28) and Ava Faler in the high jump (4-8).

Meadow McCullough added a sixth-place finish in the high jump (4-6).

Brody Parsell powered the Indian Lake boys on Tuesday with a win in the pole vault (12-6).

Caiden Gauntt was second in the long jump (20-5) for the Lakers.

The Lakers’ 3,200 relay team of Tony Cummins, Grant McPherson, Vincent Wilson and Heath Wilson finished fourth (9:16.69), Isaac Morrison was fifth in the long jump (19-7.5) and taking sixth were Charles Sickles-Sposa in the discus (105-3) and Ryan Culp in the pole vault (11-0).

Ben Logan’s girls team was led on opening day by the winning 3,200 relay squad of Lexi Archer, Georgia Bates, Mylee Boysel and Estella Wenger (10:47.84).

Isabel Henderson was second in the high jump (5-0) and Wenger was third in the 3,200 (12:56.09) for the Raiders.

Also for BL, Alanna Gibson was fifth in the shot put (32-10) and Mylee Boysel was sixth in the 3,200 (13:22.04).

The Ben Logan boys team was fueled by the winning 3,200 relay team of Tyler Shoopman, Kendahl Stanley, Eli Rhodes and Eric Hughes (8:54.87).

Taking third for the Raiders were Mason Jackson in the discus (125-5), Trevor Berry in the long jump (20-4.5) and Evan Carpenter in the pole vault (12-0)

Luke Hemmelgarn was fourth in the discus (124-3), while finishing fifth were Hughes in the 3,200 (11:00.48) and Carter Daniels in the pole vault (11-0).
