Bellefontaine’s boys tennis team wrapped up a piece of the Central Buckeye Conference championship Monday with a 5-0 win over visiting Tecumseh.
The Chiefs and Northwestern both went 12-2 in league play to share the title.
The CBC title is the second in school history and first since 1989.
Bellefontaine is now 17-4 overall and the 17 wins ties a school record for most wins in a season. That record was first set by the 1989 squad.
Bellefontaine’s first doubles team of Drew Phillips and Trey Taylor defeated Jordan Castle and Austin Poppe 6-1, 6-0 on Monday, marking the team’s 20th win of the season against just one loss.
The 20 wins ties Taylor and Phillips for the most doubles wins in a season in school history.
In the second doubles match Monday, the Chiefs’ Elias Abrego and Bryce Harris won 6-1, 6-1 over Hayden Blanton and Logan Petras.
The Chiefs’ Truman Howell rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nick Green at first singles, Xavier Sims beat Nolan Schafer 6-0, 6-2 at second singles and Max Fissel earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Brennan Barnet at third singles.
