Thurman F. Allmon, 66, of Lakeview, OH passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Mary Rutan Hospital Emergency Department, Bellefontaine, OH.
Thurman was born on March 8, 1957, in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Thurman A. and Elizabeth A. Badertscher Allmon. He was also preceded in death by brother, Randy E. Allmon, and a brother-in-law, Robert Newkirk
Thurman married Debra Vagedes on October 6, 1979 at Bellefontaine First Church of God and she survives along with their three children, Jenny (Mike) Kimbler of Russells Point, OH, Brison (Ginger) Allmon of Bellefontaine, and Beth (Randy Bigler) Allmon of Richwood, OH, six grandchildren, Mikey (Brooke) Kimbler, Megan Kimbler, Shania Fruchey, Quinn Allmon, Ross Allmon, and Christopher Bigler, great grandson, Barron Russell Kimbler, two siblings, Mary Newkirk of Bellefontaine, and John (Jean) Allmon of Rushsylvania, OH, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved puppy, Milo.
Thurman was a 1975 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church and Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533. Thurman worked at Acrux Security for 20 years before working at Accusport in Bellefontaine where he retired. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, detailing guitars and vehicles, and refinishing golf clubs. His greatest love was his family, being with his grandchildren, and attending every one of their events he could. Thurman had a big heart and became “grandpa” to many others.
Reverend Shawn Landenwitch will begin a memorial mass, 11 am, Wednesday, May 3, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 464 Madison Ave, Russells Point, with visiting from 10 to 11 a.m. A celebration of Thurman’s life will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview.
