William Walter “Bill” Doup III, 58, of West Mansfield, passed away at 7:18 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2023, in Mary Rutan Hospital, ER.

He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on September 26, 1964, the son of the late William Walter and Jean (Cameron) Doup.

On March 20, 1992, he married the former Julie Morand and she survives in West Mansfield.

He is also survived by a son, Jonathan (Celeste) Doup of Huntsville, two step-daughters, Jessie (Jeff) McCoy of Bellefontaine and Jaime (Shawn) Holycross of DeGraff, six grandchildren: Lainey and Emilia Doup, Karson, Katana McCoy, and Owen and Silas Holycross, and a great grandchild, Ripley, three sisters; Debbie (Bob) Vance, Patti Doup-Bailey, and Kathy (Ron) Doup-Troyer, numerous nieces and nephews, and his Chihuahua rescue, Suzi.  

He was preceded in death by his 18 ½ year-old Jack Russell, Louis Walter.

Bill was a 1983 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and worked as an excavator where he owned and operated his own business and as well as working with other construction companies including Humble and Link Construction. He belonged to the B.P.O.E. in Bellefontaine and enjoyed camping, grilling out and cooking with his smoker. He was a great storyteller and loved to tell Yeti stories.  He was a fun-loving guy who loved to be around people, especially his family.

Pastor Eric Cook will officiate a funeral on Monday, May 1, at 2 p.m in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Hathaway Cemetery, West Mansfield.
