In a much anticipated battle of talented Logan County softball squads, visiting Indian Lake used three runs in the fifth inning and a strong pitching performance from Madison Brentlinger to knock off host Benjamin Logan 3-0 in a Central Buckeye Conference battle Monday.

The Lakers improve to 16-1 overall and they have sole possession of first place in the CBC Mad River division at 9-1.

Ben Logan is 13-3 overall and is currently tied for second in the MR division with North Union at 7-2.

After four scoreless innings to start the game, Hannah Marlow belted a home run in the top of the fifth inning to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead.

Indian Lake added two more runs in the fifth for a 3-0 cushion.

That was more than enough offense needed for Indian Lake pitcher Madison Brentlinger, who fired a one-hitter in the circle. She struck out four and did not walk a batter.

Marlow finished 3-3 and Mackenzie Dixon was 2-4 with a double and two RBI for the Lakers.

Brooks Myers had a double for Ben Logan’s lone hit.

The two teams will play again Wednesday at Indian Lake but they first have makeup games to get in today. The Lakers host Bellefontaine and Ben Logan is at home against Springfield Shawnee.
