IL girls, BL boys win county titles

Indian Lake’s girls team and Benjamin Logan’s boys squad came away with the championship trophies at the Logan County track and field championships Tuesday at Ben Logan.

The host Raiders recorded 132 points to take the boys meet. Bellefontaine was the runner-up with 97.5 points, Indian Lake took third with 66 points, Riverside was fourth with 30.5 and Calvary Christian finished fifth with 27.

Indian Lake’s girls team piled up 148.5 points to get their victory. The Raiders were second (108), Bellefontaine finished third (63), Calvary Christian was fourth (12) and Riverside was fifth (5.5).

Whitten, Henderson lead Raiders

Sam Whitten was part of four victories to fuel Ben Logan’s boys in their championship win.

Whitten won the 100 (10.90) and 200 (23.71). He also placed first in the 400 relay with Hunter Lattimer, Trevor Berry and Ben Chamberlain (45.92) and the 800 relay with Lattimer, Yale Scheiderer and Chamberlain (1:36.50).

Also grabbing wins for the Raiders were Scheiderer in the 110 hurdles (15.87), Lattimer in the 400 (55.21), Berry in the long jump (19-4.5) and Greyshn Bailey in the pole vault (11-0).

Taking second for the BL boys were Scheiderer in the 300 hurdles (44.01), Eric Hughes in the 1,600 (4:55.15), Lattimer in the 200, Evan Carpenter in the pole vault (10-6) and the 1,600 relay team of Dylan Vance, Scheiderer, Hughes and Chamberlain (3:46).

Taking third were Mason Jackson in the discus (119-9), Carpenter in the long jump (17-11), Chamberlain in the 100 (11.71), Carter Buck in the 110 hurdles (17.09) and 300 hurdles (45.0) and Kendahl Stanley in the 1,600 (5:03.21).

Adding fourth-place finishes for the BL boys were Jackson in the shot put (PR of 44-3), Hughes in the 800, Tyler Shoopman in the 3,200 (12:05.63) and the 3,200 relay team of Micah Ackley, Aaron Rhodes, Parker Sutherly and Landon Zehner (10:06).

Isabel Henderson powered the Lady Raiders by scoring a meet-high 30 points.

She won the 100 (12.17), the high jump (4-10) and the long jump (15-5) and finished second in the 200.

Taking second for the Lady Raiders were the 800 relay team (1:56.1), the 400 relay team (53.56), Mylee Boysel in the 400 (1:07.16), Scarlett Elliott in the pole vault (8-0) and the 1,600 relay team (4:33.35).

Finishing third were Kate Gulick in the 100 hurdles (15.93), Estella Wenger in the 1,600 (6:04.7), Georgia Bates in the 800 (2:45.80), Mya Burrey in the long jump (13-9) and Kate Vickroy in the pole vault (7-6).

Adding fourth-place finishes for the BL girls team were Hannah White in the 100 hurdles (16.99), the 400 B relay team (59.1), Elliott in the 400 (1:09.69), Gulick in the 300 hurdles (52.35), Lexi Archer in the 800 (2:49.73) and Macy Matthews in the long jump (13-3).

Rash, Richardson lead Lakers

Elayna Richardson and Reagan Rash both had standout performances to lead Indian Lake’s girls team to its first-place finish.

Richardson won the 400 (59.76) and the 200 and Rash won the 1,600 (5:42) and the 800 (2:35).

Relay wins for the Lakers went to the 800 relay team of Meadow McCullough, Cameron Finfrock, Ashlynn Biederman and Ava Huffman (1:55.9), the 400 relay team of Jalan Martin, Huffman, Reece Martin and Addison Beck (53.47) and the 1,600 relay team of Reece Martin, KaiLea Miller, Rash and Richardson (4:19).

Finishing in second for the Lady Lakers were Richardson in the 100 (school record of 12.38), Marah Reames in the long jump (13-9.25), Grace Pequignot in the shot put (33-6.75), the 3,200 relay team of Hannah Metzger, Cambria Tuttle, Maggie Reese and Makayla Motter (12:58), KaiLea Miller in the 1,600 (5:55) and 800 (2:42), Reece Martin in the 100 hurdles (15.85), Evie Wagner in the 3,200 (13:33) and Ava Faler in the high jump (4-8).

Recording third-place finishes were Stephanie Altstaetter in the shot put (33-4) and discus (96-6.5), Jalan Martin in the 100 (13.38), Reece Martin in the 300 hurdles (51.73), Finfrock in the 400 (1:07) and 200 and Metzger in the 3,200 (13:42).

Chipping in with fourth-place finishes were Maddie Miller in the shot put (32-4.75), Wagner in the 1,600 (6:12), Makayla Motter in the 3,200 (16:12) and McCullough in the high jump (4-8).

Leading the Indian Lake boys team with wins were Brant Parsell in the 300 hurdles (43.4), Grant McPherson in the 800 (2:12) and the 1,600 relay team of Drake Crosby, Isaac Morrison, McPherson and Brant Parsell (3:45).

Finishing in second for the Lakers were Brant Parsell in the 110 hurdles (16.19) and Morrison in the long jump (18-3), while a third-place effort went to the 400 relay team of Crosby, Morrison, Caident Gauntt and Brant Parsell (47.27).

Adding fourth-place efforts for the IL boys team were Quest Clay in the 100 (11.74) and 200 (25.36), the 800 relay team of Noah Shirk, Wes Campbell, Kade Richardson and Jayden Martin (1:44), Gavin Henry in the 300 hurdles (48.51), Morrison in the high jump (5-4), Gauntt in the long jump (17-7.25) and Brody Parsell in the pole vault (9-6).

Adams powers BHS girls, Stewart and Ashcraft lead boys team

Sophomore Kylie Adams had another strong outing to lead Bellefontaine’s girls team on Tuesday.

Adams won the 100 hurdles (14.47) and the 300 hurdles (47.89).

Also getting wins for the Lady Chiefs were Alexis Robinson in the discus (111-11.5), Kelsie Snapp in the shot put (36-1.75) and Harper Penhorwood in the pole vault (8-0).

Taking second for BHS were Callie Shumaker in the 300 hurdles (48.47) and Snapp in the discus (100-11.5).

Finishing in third place for the Chieftain girls was Shumaker in the high jump (4-8), while fourth-place finishes went to Perri Neeld in the discus (94-11.5) and the 1,600 relay team.

Tony Stewart and Sullivan Ashcraft each won two events to pace the Chieftain boys.
Stewart placed first in the 1,600 (4:50.5) and 3,200 (10:49.14), while Ashcraft won the shot put (52-4.5) and the discus(125-1).

Earning second-place finishes for the Chiefs were the 3,200 relay team (9:42.2), Jack Hutchins in the 100 (11.4), Carter Snapp in the 800 (2:13.05), Hayden Maus in the 3,200 (11:09.03), Haiden Manns in the discus (120-10) and shot put (47-4.5), the 800 relay team (1:38.2) and the 400 relay team.

Finishing in third for BHS were Kaiden Foulk in the 200 (24.97), Seth Taylor in the 3,200 (11:22.03) and Collin Deitsch in the high jump (5-4).

Adding a fourth-place effort for Bellefontaine was Foulk in the 400 (57.35).

Knight powers Pirates

Tyler Knight had a big night for Riverside’s boys team Tuesday, winning the high jump and placing third in the pole vault.

Also for the Riverside boys, Travis Brooks was third in the shot put and sixth in the discus, Ayden Clary was fourth in the discus and sixth in the shot put, Michael Shockey was third in the 400, Houston Anderson was fifth in the 100 and sixth in the 200 and the 400 relay team of Anderson, Dominik Stotler, Knight and Clary placed fourth.

Leading the Riverside girls team was a third-place finish from the 800 relay team of Shaye McGill, Kaylee Fulkerson, Rachel Knight and Brianna Bradley.

Bradley was fifth in the 200 and Cassie May finished sixth in the high jump and discus.

Daniels leads Spartans

Ephraim Daniels placed second in the 400 and second in the high jump to highlight Calvary Christian’s efforts on Tuesday.

Taking third for the CC boys team were John Gaertner in the 800, the 1,600 relay team of Nehemiah Dillon, Clay Howard, Gaertner and Daniels and the 3,200 relay team of Christian Rogan, Cooper Cronkleton, Lincoln Roell and Ian Schmidt.

Gaertner was fourth in the 1,600 and Roell was fifth in the 3,200.

For the Calvary girls team, the 1,600 relay team of Abigail Reinhard, Brooklyn Horner, Anastacia Rogan and Ruby Slemmons led the way with a third-place finish.

Reinhard was fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Rogan was fourth in the 200 and fifth in the 100 and long jump.

Lady Tigers top North Union

West Liberty-Salem’s girls track and field team defeated North Union in a home dual meet Tuesday.

The Lady Tigers tallied 107 points to easily finish ahead of the Wildcats and their 28 points.

Earning individual wins for the WL-S girls were Aubree Timmons in the shot put (PR of 30-02), Isabella Hardwick in the discus (96-11), Elise Longshore in the pole vault (9-0), Anna Knox in the high jump (4-6), Chloe Griffith the long jump (13-06.5) and 100 (14.29), Sophia Hardwick in the 100 hurdles (17.55) and 300 hurdles (49.15), Malia Miller in the 1,600 (5:55.44), Ashley Yoder in the 800 (2:34.10) and Breece Gullett in the 400 (1:06.81).

Picking up relay wins for the Tigers were the 3,200 team of Gullett, Miller, Gwen McCullough and Lily Smith (10:52.62), the 800 ream of Sophia Hardwick, McCullough, Griffith and Mallory Bostick (1:56.01), the 400 team of Tori Douthwaite, Elise Longshore, Griffith and McCullough (55.13) and the 1,600 relay team of Yoder, Boyd, McCullough and Bostick (4:27.62).

Adding second-place finishes for the Lady Tigers were Tori Douthwaite in the 100 (14.39), 200 (30.91) and pole vault (PR of 8-06), Taylor Kennedy in the 1,600 (6:13.70), Knox in the 400 (1:10.95) and long jump (12-08.5), Bostick in the 800 (2:35.59) and Sophia Hardwick in the discus (87-01).

North Union won the boys meet with 79 points. The Tigers had 57 points.

Leading the Tigers with wins were Logan Phillips in the 110 hurdles (18.14), Caleb Larson in the 1,600 (4:55.98), Quentin Rudolph in the 400 (55.11), Dylan King in the 800 (2:11.70), Mark Bair in the discus (129-6), Slayde Merriman in the pole vault (9-6) and the 1,600 relay team of Owen Harrison, Asher Knox, Rudolph and Brevin Louden (3:51.70).

Adding second-place finishes for WL-S were Taryn Bradley in the 300 hurdles (48.22), Harrison in the 400 (56.93), Joey LaRoche in the 800 (2:11.83), Jackson Steider in the long jump (18-1.25), Bair in the shot put (40-8.75) and Craig Stanford in the pole vault (9-6).
