Cocaine, marijuana recovered in separate traffic stops

BellefontainePolice Patch-200Thomas Anderson, 34, of Russells Point, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia following a 6:34 p.m. traffic stop, Thursday, April 20, executed by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department in the area of Washington Avenue at Harding Street.

Police stopped the eastbound maroon Chevrolet sedan Anderson was driving for an extremely dark window tint. Officers checked the window tint, which registered at 17 percent, officers report. The legal limit is 50 percent.

Anderson reported to police he had just left a residence in the 100 block of Auburn Avenue and was delivering food for Doordash.

He consented to a search of his vehicle, which revealed a blue and black crack pipe and digital scale in the center console, as well as a marijuana grinder and marijuana pipe.

On the passenger side of the vehicle officers found a tray which contained suspected crack cocaine.

He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.

• Jeremiah Maurice, 41, of Bellefontaine, was charged with drug abuse and possession of a controlled substance following a 4:11 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, traffic stop.

Officers observed the suspect fail to use a left turn signal as he turned onto Kent Drive from south Main Street.

Officers reported an odor of raw marijauna upon making contact with the driver, and also observed Maurice to be very nervous, his hands shaking.

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed raw marijuana stored inside a cigarette box, as well as a marijuana pipe in the center console of the vehicle.

Maurice was given a summons for the charges and was released.
